CMU MIIS

Program Overview​

Offered by LTI, primarily career-oriented. You can graduate in 1.5 years or 2 years. MIIS is under the SCS school with high course selection priority, allowing access to various popular CS courses such as Distributed Systems, Operating System, etc. The first two semesters require mandatory research. LTI has a dedicated study room that MSAII, MIIS, and MCDS students can all use. MIIS has a great job search atmosphere, and the advisor in charge of MIIS is very responsible.

Very high admission threshold with very few spots. Historical acceptance rate is around 8%. Prefers candidates with AI/NLP backgrounds.

Job Outcomes & Data Points​

Historical employment rate 92%, median starting salary $150K. Graduates work as both SDE and MLE. Top employers are Databricks and TikTok.
